Lamat is an 8-week program, June 21st-August 14th, 2020, designed to introduce students to astrophysical research methods and tools through original projects in computational astrophysics.
The program targets science and engineering undergraduates currently enrolled in California community colleges. We welcome applications from students in other 2-year institutions. Selected interns work closely with UCSC faculty and PhD students from the Physics, Earth and Planetary Sciences, and Astronomy Departments. A stipend and housing will be provided for Lamat students.
The summer 2020 application opens October 15, 2019 and closes on December 6, 2019
All finalists will be expected to attend a “Winter Science Computational Boot Camp” held at the University of California, Santa Cruz from January 13 to January 17, 2020 in preparation for the summer internship. Full financial support will be provided for all winter boot camp participants.
